Aramis Raul Ayala Genta
Family & friends are welcome to attend Visiting Hours on Thursday, August 8th from 5:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107) Revere, for Aramis Raul Ayala Genta of Swampscott, formerly of East Boston, who passed away on Sunday August 4th, at the Bertram House in Swampscott, after a long illness, he was 79. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, August 9th at 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to celebrate his life at 11 a.m., in St. John the Evangelists Church, 174 Humphrey St. Swampscott.
Born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay, Raul was a distinguished professional soccer player who played for teams in Uruguay (Danubio), Ecuador (America) and the U.S. He was a member of the Philadelphia Ukrainians team that won the 1966 U.S. Open Cup Soccer Championship and also played in Boston for the Boston Tigers. After retiring as a professional, he continued to participate in local leagues, both as a player and coach, while working for Chas. T. Main and Bioran/Quest Diagnostics, the latter for 29 years. He was grateful for the wonderful experiences playing soccer afforded him including the formation of deep friendships across team lines and international borders, visiting many interesting regions of the world, coming to the U.S. and most importantly, meeting his future wife in Ecuador. Always humble about sharing his own accomplishments on the pitch, his friends would nevertheless be quick to share anecdotes about how Pele called him a great player or how he would practice with Bobby Orr to train for their respective sports. His passion for soccer, and sports in general, was exceeded only by his love for his family and friends who greatly admired his keen intelligence, sharp wit, and sweet and generous spirit.
He is survived by his beloved sweetheart and wife of 52 years, Aida M. Ayala (Enriquez) of East Boston. He is the adored father of Ann Cristina and Scott Macey, Susan and Jarrett Bridge (all of Swampscott) and James Ayala (of East Boston) and the cherished grandfather of Kaitlin and Alexander Macey and Elijah Aramis and Tyler Bridge. He will also be missed by his dear brothers, Orlando Nelson and Uruguay Mario, as well as his caring cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Juan Manuel Ayala and Maria Aurora Genta de Ayala and his brother Omar Manuel all of Uruguay. Interment in Swampscott Cemetery, Swampscott. His family would like to thank Bertram House of Swampscott and Care Dimensions for their care and support during his illness.

Holly A. (Parkins) Altri
Funeral Services were held privately for Holly A. (Parkins – Hennessy) Altri, who died on Tuesday, July 23rd at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, following a brief illness, with her mother by her side, she was 47 years old.
Holly was born in Dallas, Texas and later moved to New Orleans with her parents. As a young girl, she and her family moved to East Boston, where she remained through out of her education. She attended St. Johns School in Boston and East Boston High School. As a young girl, when Holly moved to Jeffries Point in East Boston, she made friends very quickly with her southern accent, blonde hair, witty sense of humor & personality. Holly enjoyed spending time with her friends & making new ones. She was always looking to make people laugh and just having a good time and enjoying life. Holly later settled in Winthrop, where she raised her son Christopher. As a young mother she worked various jobs trying her best to be a good mother & provider for herself & her son. She later had 2 more children, Amber & Jacob, and then moved to Maine. Life became difficult for Holly, she lost her firstborn son Chris and the tragedy was devastating and unfortunately her life would never be the same. Life became a challenge for Holly and her health became debilitating. A Life that was once filled with promise & endless possibilities, became difficult and filled with obstacles that were overbearing. Holly is now at peace in Heaven with her son Chris, and her eternal life is filled with every dream & wish attained, that she did not have here on earth.
She is the beloved daughter of Victoria (Houston) Neary & husband Frederick of Dallas, TX. She is the loving mother of Amber Altri – Church & Jacob Altri – Church both of Waterville, ME & the late Christopher J. Kjersgard. She is the proud grandmother of 1 grandson. She is the dear sister of Richard Houston – Garcia & his companion Kristie of Yonkers, NY. She is also lovingly survived by her nephew Logan Garcia & she was a friend to many.

Mavourneen “Marvie” Procopio
Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Thursday, August 1st from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere for Mavourneen “Marvie” Procopio, who died following a brief terminal illness on Tuesday, July 30th at her Revere residence, in the comforting presence of her God & devoted family. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday August 2nd at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere at 11:00 a.m., and immediately followed with entombment in Holy Cross Community Mausoleum, Malden.
Born, raised & educated in Revere, she was an alumna of Revere High School, Class of 1956. Following graduation, she began a 35 plus year career with N.E. Tel. & Tel. (Verizon). She began as an operator in the headquarters of N.E. Tel. & Tel. on Congress St. in Boston and quickly rose through the ranks attaining the position of Supervisor of Units. Ms. Procopio took an early retirement in 1993. Remember that in the era of her employment, especially in the early 50s through the early 80s, it was a remarkable feat for an Italian-American woman to arrive to a supervisory position. That accomplishment, in and of itself, proudly announced the “work ethic” of the person. “Auntie Marvie” as she was affectionately known by her faithful family, become the caretaker of her large nest of 10 siblings & their spouses. Until her recent debilitating illness, she cared for her beloved brother-in-law, William F. Terranova, who in God’s grace will celebrate his 104th birthday in October. She was everyone’s “go to” person. Siblings and her adoring four generations of nieces and nephews sought her presence, her insight, her keen wit & her dramatic appreciation for fine “couture” womens’ fashions and accessories. Her family celebrates her passing with thanksgiving for a life well lived and an appreciation for her intense intellect, her sharp cutting edge and her passion for living. 5-star restaurants, fine clothes, a cocktail or two, were among her favorite choices in living. “Viva Marvie”!
She is the beloved daughter of the late Andrew J. Procopio Sr. & Catherine M. (Capano) Procopio. The cherished sister of Gloria Torre & Andrew J. Procopio, Jr. & his wife, Marie, all of Revere & the late Pauline Terranova, Jean Angeloni, Mary Alvino, Domenic A., Albert, Anthony, Joseph & John Procopio. Also lovingly survived by her brother-in-law, William F. Terranova of Revere & four proud generations of adoring nieces & nephews. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Donna M. (Bellitti) Nelson

(Bellitti) Nelson, who died on Sunday evening, July 28th at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House of Reading, following a five year battle with Multiple Myeloma. The Funeral Service will follow the visitation in the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Interment will be held privately.
Donna attended Revere Schools and was a 1978 alumna of Revere High School. Following graduation, she attended North Shore Community College. Donna worked for about 3 years with two local banks before joining a new & upcoming Company called, Vital Data Management, formerly of Everett & Burlington. Her pinnacle career with Vital was as Senior Vice President for five years. She secured her real estate license, working for Flatley Company & was successful in that field until an industrial accident forced an early retirement. Donna & her husband, David A. Nelson lived in Raynham for a short time before moving to Nashua N.H., 11 years ago. Donna will be especially remembered for her gentle & loving personality, her devotion to family and respect and appreciation for high fashion and interior design.
She is the beloved wife of 18 years to David A. Nelson. She is the cherished sister to David A. Bellitti & his wife, Marie of Woburn & Carole A. Frederick of Medford. She is the devoted aunt to Doctor John A. Frederick, PhD & his wife, Tara of Australia, Jaclyn A. Rescigno & her husband, John of Wilmington, Joel A. Frederick & his wife, MaryKate of Hillsboro, Oregon & Christine A. Bellitti of Woburn. She is the proud grandaunt to Liam R., Wyatt D., Zoe E., John C. & Jennavieve A. She is also lovingly survived by Travis Martin & his son, Jaden of Nashua, N.H., her brother-in-law, John D. Frederick of Saugus & her father-in-law, Allen T. Murray F. Viehl
Family & friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, July 29th, in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., for Murray F. Viehl, who passed on Thursday, July 25th following a lengthy illness at the residence of his daughter. A Funeral Mass will follow the visitation on Monday, at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) REVERE & immediately followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
A lifelong Revere resident and proud of it, he was an alumnus of Immaculate Conception High School, Class of 1948 and a 1952 cum laude alumnus of Boston College. He then served with the U.S. Army from Jan. 10, 1953-0ct. 10, 1955 during the Korean War as a Sgt. He returned to Boston College and secured his MBA from Boston College. He entered the Banking Profession at Shawmut Bank of Boston (Bank of Boston & Bank of America) and finally retiring from Fleet Bank as Vice-President and Senior Lending Officer. He retired for the final time in 2006. For the greater span of his life, he and his family thoroughly enjoyed the family “summer” home in North Conway, N.H., which also afforded them a prelude into the world of skiing in the winter. Murray especially enjoyed skiing & boating on Pequawket Pond. His other pastimes and hobbies were, gardening, reading and a life-long fan of the Boston Red Sox. He was the proud owner of an extraordinary intellect, especially in the realm of his banking acumen, rendering him a “go to man” even thru his several attempted retirements. A true “family-man”, nothing gave him more pleasure, than to be with his entire family, especially his loving grandchildren.
Murray was the beloved husband to the late Marie A. (Bowman) Viehl for 58 years until she made her journey to heaven, Dec. 6, 2015. Devoted father of Elizabeth J. Viehl-McKenna & husband Thomas of Revere and Boca Raton, FL, Patrice A. Viehl of Everett, James O. Viehl & wife Anne of Salem, NH, Kenneth F. Viehl & wife Erin of Pocasset, MA & the late Thomas M. Viehl. Cherised “grampy” to Courtney M. Pyne & husband Michael of South Boston, Sarah A. Viehl of Hudson, NH, Michael T. Viehl of Boulder, CO, Emily N. Viehl of Salt Lake City, Utah, Nicholas J. Viehl & Alexa V. Viehl, both of Hopkinton, Elizabeth R. McGonagle & Victoria M. McGonagle, both of Everett. He is also lovingly survived by his daughter-in-law, Stephanie Viehl of Hopkinton.
Murray was also a many year member of the Revere Council Knights of Columbus #179, where he was most active in the council & in the ministry at Immaculate Conception Parish Community. For many years, he took his part as an usher & collector for Immaculate Conception Parish Church.

Nancy E. Panico

Nancy was born and raised in Boston. The family later moved & settled in Everett, where she lived until 2008. She later moved to North Reading, where she lived until her most recent illness. Due to her many challenges, Nancy made up for it with her outgoing personality and her social skills. She enjoyed living with her housemates at her home and the staff that cared for them, especially Roger Mumper, their Program & Staff Coordinator. Roger would often take Nancy to attend mass at St. Theresa’s Parish. Nancy enjoyed many activities, but some of her favorites were meal prepping at home. She was also quite the movie buff. She liked the old black & whites to the newest releases. She also enjoyed many of the musicals. Nancy loved going to events, especially the Halloween parties, that was her favorite. She loved to go out and meet people and she will always be forever remembered by her very infectious laugh. She is in now home in heaven in the loving arms of her parents.
She is the beloved daughter of the late Antonio Panico & Vita (Balzzerla) Panico. She is also the cherished housemate of Ruth, Michael & David. She is also lovingly survived by the wonderful & dedicated staff & friends of the May Institute.

Christine was born & raised in Revere. She attended Revere schools and is a graduate of Northeast Regional Vocational School High. Christine’s focus major was Hairdressing. She later worked at the Dellaria Salons in Boston. Chris also worked in Pewter Pot and retail for a brief time. She always enjoyed having fun with friends and family & was an avid movie buff & loved all types of music.
She is the devoted daughter of the late Patricia (Zolla) Cataldo & Philip Cataldo. Loving sister of Philip A. Cataldo, Pamela Fraga & Patricia Cataldo. Cherished aunt of Amanda & Christina. She is also lovingly survived by many caring cousins.

John McGuinn
John McGuinn of Nantucket died on June 19th, 2019 at age 85. He was born in West Hartford Connecticut, graduated there from the Kingswood-Oxford School and Holy Cross College in Worcester Massachusetts. After that he attended Georgetown University Law Center where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Journal and graduated with LL.B and LL.M degrees.
After clerking for Judge Charles Fahy on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, he practiced employment relations law in private practice in Washington D.C. for forty years. During this time he was an adjunct professor of labor law at Georgetown from 1963 to 1969. He was admitted to and argued cases in eleven of the thirteen U.S. circuit Courts of Appeal as well as the U.S. Supreme Court where he argued and won an employment testing case in 1979.
For the last twenty years of his career John represented national advertisers and advertising agencies in negotiating with the talent unions—SAG/AFTRA and AFM- minimum rates and working conditions for performers appearing in television and radio commercials. He also acted as a trustee on the SAG-Producers Health and Pension Plans from 1987 and became emeritus trustee in 2013
John met Rosanne Kling on a blind date for the Fourth of July celebrations in 1962.
After fireworks and dinner they decided to get married that same night, They were married on April 20, 1963 and had four children: Greg McGuinn of Alexandria VA, Jenifer Demko of West Newton MA, Jeremy McGuinn of Cary NC, and Laura McC arthy of North Reading MA. They had six grandchildren: Jessica McGuinn, Maddie and Anna Demko, Patrick and Jack McGuinn, and Kevin McGuinn who predeceased them.
After his retirement, John and Rosanne moved from Washington to Nantucket in 1998 where they enjoyed island life and travelling. John joined a group of swimmers at the Nantucket Sound beach known to island regulars as the Gaza Strip”. His motto in good times and bad was borrowed from the fish character Nemo—“Just keep swimming.”
John and Rosanne were parish members and Eucharistic ministers at Saint Mary Church and members of the Wharf Rat club . John was also a member of the Rotary Club of Nantucket.
Rosanne died on New Years Eve in 2015 after living with breast cancer and a bout of esphogeal cancer since 2000.
A funeral Mass for John will be held on August 1st, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Mary Church on Federal Street Nantucket.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Nantucket Cottage Hospital.

Virginia M. (Rose) French

Mrs. French was a 1944 alumna of Immaculate Conception High School. Most of her working career was as a Salesperson for the former Almy’s Department Store at Northgate Shopping Center, for over 20 years. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt & friend to many.
She is the beloved wife of 72 years to Elmer S. French and the adored mother of Virginia “Gina” L. Imbaro & her husband, Robert of Dedham, Nancy M. Kaplan & her husband, George of North Reading & Ronald P. French & his wife, Cheryl of Melrose. She is the cherished grandmother to Rosalind V. Imbaro & Jeffrey B. Imbaro, both of Waltham, Ellen M. Oteri & husband, Patrick of Merrimac, Amy E. DiLillo & husband, Mark of Plymouth, Ronald P. French, Jr. & wife, Lindsey of Dover, N.H., Lauren M. French of Londonderry, N.H., Andrew A. Born & raised in Prince Edward Island, Canada, she came to live in the US.A. as a teenager, settling in East Boston & remaining there until moving to Revere in 1948. Her early career was spent as a waitress at Revere Beach in the Frolic’s Café & Restaurant. Later in her career, she made a change to banking and worked as a Personnel Officer for Boston Five Cents Savings Bank-Citizens, completing some 21 years and rising to the position of assistant Vice-President, retiring in 1990. Flora always enjoyed traveling and seeing the sights with enthusiasm and excitement. She was also a member of several Revere Seniors Club and was Past President of Revere’s “Smart Set”.
She was the wife of the late Charles H. Bishop and the devoted mother of the late Charles J. “Bucky” Bishop & the late James R. Bishop. She is the dear sister of Rosina M. MacAulay & her late husband, James of Leominster & the late, Catherine McCaffrey, Donald & Allan MacDonald. She is lovingly survived by her caregiver, Kathy Corbett of Revere & many faithful & proud nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.
